I’ve been wanting to go here since it opened and I seen some of the pics… a stunning cliff walk perched just above the waters edge for you to walk along and take in the scenery. and it definitely didn’t disappoint. A stunning walk located in a stunning setting.
Your journey begins at the visitor centre, exploring the rich history of the Gobbins and how it was thought up and brought about.
After a quick safety notice and do’s and don’ts its off to the bus for a short 5 min journey to the start of the walk.
The bus drops you off and as you cross the road you begin the steep descent down towards the waters edge, the steps which were there have unfortunately become victim to a recent storm but the stone path is quite manageable. as you get new the bottom and round the corner you see your first glimpse of what exactly lies ahead. A brief stop before you go through the stone arch which signals the true start of the adventure beyond.

Head down, we go through the little tunnel carved in the rock, it’s like stepping into another world, on one side a sheer cliff face and on the other the water lapping on the rocks a mere few feet away (pray for a calm day like we had, or you will get wet!)
The money spent has made the path quite safe with railings stretching the whole length of the path. Our guide explains the origins of the path and point out interesting features as we go.
Three bridges have been built to travers some of the coves along the path and they are stunning. Feet above the water, the sound of the waves lapping up below, and nothing but ocean behind, it has to be seen to be believed.
The Tubular Bridge is perhaps the most famous of the bridges and is designed to cop the bridge as it would have been back in olden days. The path winds its way round, up and down the cliff side. There are lots of birds nesting in the cliff side and a few tunnels and caves to explore along the way also.
All in all the walk lasted about 2.5 hrs and it was worth every bit of it. Its definitely a must visit, especially on a lovely day like the one we got. The views were amazing and the walk along the cliffs were something I won’t forget in a hurry.
